Compare Any Two Pages Troubleshooting
A page does not appear in search
- Confirm that you can open the content in Confluence with the same account.
- Paste the full Confluence URL into the selector.
- If needed, enter the numeric content ID.
- Check that the content is a Page, Live doc, or Blog post on this Confluence site, and that it has not been deleted or archived. Unpublished page drafts are not search results.
A selected version cannot be loaded
- Reopen the Version menu and confirm that the version still exists.
- Choose Latest version to test current access.
- Refresh the comparison after permissions or page status change.
Compare this page is missing
- Confirm that you opened the ••• More actions menu on a Page, Live doc, or Blog post.
- Look in the Apps group or submenu; Confluence can group app actions differently by layout.
- Confirm that Compare Any Two Pages is installed for the site and available to the current user.
A macro or media item shows a fallback
A fallback is not the same as a missing difference. It means Compare Any Two Pages preserved available evidence but could not safely reproduce the content’s full native runtime or media preview. Expand the fallback details when available, and open the original content for native interaction.
A task looks fragmented in Unified view
If a task's text and completion state both changed, Unified view can show fragmented content, overlapping text, or an input placeholder. Switch to Side by side, then open both original pages to check the task text and completion state. This limitation concerns tasks with both changes together.
Recent comparisons are unavailable
Retry the history action. A history read or write error does not prevent a new comparison, and page bodies are not stored in recent history.
The comparison times out
Very large or structurally complex pages can exceed the guarded comparison window. Retry once. If the timeout continues, contact BlueGrove Labs with the content types, approximate document size, versions being compared, and a safe screenshot of the error.
